Enlarged Erie Canal Lock No. 31 is located in Sprakers, N.Y., at the east end of the village. It was a double-chamber lock, with the south chamber double-length. Presently, all that can be seen of Lock No. 31 is the very top of the central portion of the lock. The north wall of the north chamber has been destroyed -- its former location is now under the pavement of Route 5S. The south wall of the north chamber looks like curbing at the side of the road. Part of the north wall of the lengthened portion of the south chamber can be seen behind the brush at the east end. The rest of the south chamber is buried.
