Enlarged Erie Canal Lock No. 36 is located just southeast of the City of Little Falls, N.Y., just off Route 169. It was a double-chamber lock, with the south (berme-side) chamber double-length, and had a lift of 10 feet to the west.
At present, only the south chamber of the lock still exists. The north chamber was destroyed during the construction of Barge Canal Lock No. E-17, which is just west of old Lock No. 36.
